(Description by J. Campbell)
Discovered on an old cassette tape during the excavation of Oxblood material in anticipation of the recent compilation LPs, these previously unreleased tracks from 1993 feature the last recordings of the original Oxblood lineup. Recorded at The Templars’ Acre Studios—where Oxblood also recorded their legendary “Under the Boot” EP—these four songs showcase the band at its peak. By that time they were seasoned musicians, having played countless gigs and spent time in the studio, but they were also still young and brimming with the passion and aggression of youth. Not only is this a phenomenal document of what was arguably the apex of Oxblood’s arc, three of the four songs on this EP were never recorded or released in any other form at the time (although a re-recorded version of “Always Right” appeared on the 2009 “Thug Rock Music EP). The EP closes with a rousing version of the patriotic anthem “Our Colors.”
